So there are never surprises on the day.
Around 3 to 4 inches. That gives me enough length to section your hair and get it locking properly. If you're not sure, send a photo through the form and I'll tell you.
Yes. I want to see your hair first, either here in the salon or on a video call, so we pick the right method for your hair and I can give you a real price instead of a guess.
Microlocs and sisterlocks installations are usually booked across two days. Your hair length and the method you choose decide how long it takes.
It depends on your hair density and the type of locs, so installations and reconstructions are quoted after a consultation.
It depends on the style. Some styles include the hair, others need you to bring your own. I'll tell you which one when you book.
No, every appointment happens here in the salon in Petersham.
Yes, as long as the child actually wants their hair done. If it gets too hard for them I'll stop the appointment, and the deposit isn't refunded.
PayID or card.
Come with clean, dry hair, with no heavy oils, gels or product build-up, unless I've told you something different.
It depends on your hair and the service, so plan for a relaxed few hours. I never rush, I'd rather take the time and get it right, and most people enjoy the sit (we usually have a good chat). You'll have a clearer idea when you book.
Sometimes, if a slot is free. Booking ahead is always safer, regulars book weeks in advance.
Yes, and it's the best way to do it. Pick a day that could suit and pay the deposit: your slot is then held. When your roster comes out, open your confirmation email and move the appointment yourself, free up to 48 hours before (counted on my working days, see the question below).
Moving or cancelling is free up to 48 hours before your appointment. Those 48 hours only count on the days I work, Monday to Thursday. The weekend doesn't count towards them, so a Saturday message about a Monday appointment is too late.
Two examples: for a Monday appointment, tell me by the Wednesday before. For a Thursday appointment, tell me by the Tuesday.
Inside that window it counts as a no-show and the deposit isn't refunded.
Every 5 to 7 weeks for a retie. You'll get a reminder message from me at week 5. Braids are different: there is no retie, you come back when it's time to take them out and start again.
A little unravelling early on is normal, it's part of your locs settling in. I'll give you the aftercare that keeps your scalp clean without setting your locs back.
Keep your scalp clean, moisturise the way I show you, sleep with a satin bonnet or pillowcase, and go easy on the products so you don't get build-up.
Yes, once your locs are mature and healthy. Get it done professionally, that's what keeps the damage down.
Give it 2 to 4 weeks first. Chlorine, salt water and long soaking can make new locs unravel or slow the locking down. If you do swim, wear a cap, rinse with clean water before and after, and let your locs dry all the way through.
Yes, that's the reconstruction service: damaged locs removed, re-attached and re-sectioned. Depending on the damage I may need to see your hair at a consultation before we book it in.
